Cache A Day

Do you cache everyday, and if so how many do you try and find? Right now I try and cache on Saturday and Sunday. Sometimes I am able to get out in the evenings and find a few before dark. However many you are able to do just go out and enjoy yourself.

  1. I don't cache everyday, but most days when I leave the house, I try to locate the nearest cache on my way. It's addicting! Example- I ran to the local dairy yesterday and located 3 caches along the way. Took me twice as long as my usual trip, but hey, I had fun! The most we've ever done in a day was 22. Hoping to break that number the next weekend we get a chance! :)

  2. I wish! It seems so hectic these days that it is really difficult to find “quality” caching time (quality meaning, nice hike, with the family and friends and maybe a picnic lunch) so, I supplement with some C&D’s now and then. My office is near Scranton so I run out now and then and grab some while I step out for “an offsite meeting” he, he, he. Usually weekends and some evenings are my most frequent times. I am also pretty involved in hiding, maintaining, creating cache pages, supporting finders, updating geoblog, updating geosite, keeping all my geofriends up to date and just plain day dreaming of caching. It’s a darn good thing I don’t sleep much, lol.

  3. On a side note, what a great idea for a blog: A Cache A Day! Someone who can get at lest one cache every day and write about it with pics! Now I would follow that blog for sure.

  4. Well it's nice to see that others want to cache as much as me and sometimes can't. Today I took the day off to cut firewood and grab a cache or two. I did get the tree cut down and a nice trailer load of wood, but then I got the chainsaw pinched by a limb and it took forever to get it out. Thank God for log chains and come-a-longs. Because of the delay I could not stop for any caches. Boo hoo. Maybe I'll get to some later this week.

  5. I posted some pictures of the maple I cut down. Next time I'm up on my land I'll measure the diameter and have the kids count the rings to see how old it is.

  6. Is that a hollowed out crevice I see there? Nice place for a cache hide, lol!

Looks like you’ll have some good burning firewood there. That bar pinching is a real bummer. That’s why I stick to smaller, standing dead oak. There is a ton of it up my way. I have a splitter but only have to do a small portion. I cut about 3 cords and use another 3 ton of chestnut coal in my Alaskan wood/coal burner in the family room basement level. I cut three vents in the ceiling/floor with super quite fans in then to draw the heat upstairs and it’s all the fuel I need for the entire winter! The extra work keeps me in shape and the savings I calculated last year to be around $3,200 using Nov to April as my burning season. There’s nothing like a nice wood fire to warm the bones!

  7. With all of this rain today, and what's due tomorrow, I guess I will not be going out for any caches any time soon. Maybe I'll get to some on Sunday. Saturday is taken up with family matters and I will not be able to cache then. I'll keep trying though. Speaking of rain this means I will not be able to split any logs either. I'm glad for leftover wood from last year.
